Job Requirements and Description
An opportunity for experienced floor finishers to join an established, well-resourced and growing company with ongoing work. Plus support with an employer sponsorship visa.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces and installing a range of flooring materials, including timber, vinyl, laminate, and carpet, across residential and commercial projects.
You will work with precision to deliver high-quality finishes while meeting safety and industry standards. This position suits someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship, works efficiently, and enjoys contributing to well-executed projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Measuring areas to be covered and consulting plans to estimate quantities of floor covering materials required
- Preparing surfaces for covering and removing baseboard trims
- Measuring, cutting and fixing underlay materials
- Laying coverings, such as carpets, linoleum, parquetry blocks, cork tiles and other resilient flooring materials, over floors, matching patterns, cutting shapes around fixtures and trimming edges
- Securing floor coverings and fitting edge trims in doorways
- Sanding, staining and applying finishing coatings to timber floors
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3 years of proven work experience as a Floor Layer or in a similar flooring installation role
- Formal qualification preferable
- Strong knowledge of timber, vinyl, laminate, carpet, and other flooring materials
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Good time management skills and ability to meet project deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices
- Valid full driver’s licence is required
- Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
